Fort Lauderdale

Altagrace Mireille Jeanty, lovingly known as “Gracie,” “Titou,” “Mireille,” and “Mitou,” passed away on May 25, 2026, surrounded by the love of her children. She was 67 years old.

Born on April 18, 1959, in Port-au-Prince, Haiti, Gracie was the youngest child in her family. Throughout her life, she carried a deep faith in God, a generous spirit, and a remarkable ability to bring people together through food, laughter, and storytelling.

Gracie was known for her humor, fun spirit, and unwavering commitment to helping others. Having lost both her parents at the age of five, she carried a deep understanding of hardship and spent her life making sure others felt cared for and never alone. An exceptional cook, she rarely met a stranger who didn't leave her home well-fed. Friends, family, and neighbors often stopped by knowing there would always be a delicious meal, a funny story, and a place at her table. Her home was a gathering place where memories were made.

A gifted storyteller with a quick wit, Gracie had a unique ability to make people laugh and feel at ease. She had a way of turning even the simplest moment into a memorable story. She was everyone's favorite. Gracie was also incredibly creative and resourceful. Whether it was a home project, a craft, a repair, or an idea that seemed impossible, she always found a way to make it work. Her family often admired her ability to create something beautiful from almost nothing. She was the ultimate alchemist…and she never let them forget it.

Above all, Gracie was a devoted mother whose greatest pride and joy were her children. She is survived by her beloved children, Che Guevara Max Jeanty, Jihane Melissa Jeanty, and Olof Emmanuel Jeanty. Shattered and heartbroken by the loss of their mother, they are consumed by her absence. They miss her dearly.

She is also survived by François Max Antonie Jeanty, with whom she shared her children and many family memories; her adored daughter-in-law, Rochelle Jeanty; her cherished grandchildren, Celine Jeanty, Noah Jeanty, and Dean Jeanty; her treasured niece and nephews, Virginie Denard Fontaine, Antony Denard Jr., Carl Andre Denard, Jonathan Denard, and Christian Denard; and an army of family members and friends whom she loved deeply.

Gracie leaves behind a community of friends and loved ones who became family. Many held a special place in her heart including Olguerline Lamousnery, Ginou Appolis, Stephanie Chery, Marie Jo Morpeau, Ing Watson Delva, Antony Denard Sr., Micheline Danis, Carline Augustin, Rudeleck Marcelin, Nedgby Marcelin, Kendrick Marcelin, Dylanka Marcelin, Margarette Vernette, Yanick Beausejour, Marie Lourdes St. Fort, Kekette Levaud, Vladimir Ti Pouche, Simpson St. Fort; along with countless other family members, friends, and honored godchildren whose lives were touched by her love and generosity. There are simply too many to name.

To know Gracie was to love her. She touched the lives of many, and her absence leaves a profound void. While she is deeply missed, her legacy lives on in the family she loved and the lives she touched.
