Obituary

Antonine Jerome Isidore, 99, of Fort Lauderdale, entered God’s Kingdom on Easter Sunday, March 31, 2024.  She was born in 1925 to Antoine Jerome and Elvira Maitre. 

Antonine was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, and is survived by her children, Marie-Michelle, Frantz, Jean-Phillipe Max, Marie-Maud, Edwig, Nicole, Magalie, and Ingrid; grandchildren Soraya, Osamudia, Michelle, Marie-France, Ednick, Vanessa, Nathalie, Miriam, Max-Andre, Christopher, Manfred, Metu, Jennifer, Leticia, Rickley, Lexidor, Shade-Ann, and Christian; and great-grandchildren Zachary, Mickayel, Kisaye, Mayre, Kamal, Coralie, and Catherine-Nicole. Sister-in-law, Myrtha, and nieces and nephews, Doudou, Martine, and Farah. She is preceded in death by her husband, Max Sanon Isidore, her brother Marc Jerome, and her first-born son, Ernst Isidore.  

After graduating from primary school, Antonine attended the Elie Dubois School where she learned to sew and trained as an administrative assistant.  Upon graduation, she worked as a secretary in the Haitian Department of Social Services until her retirement.  Not too longer after starting work, she met and ultimately married Max Sanon Isidore, and the two enjoyed a loving and stable marriage for 42 years until his death in 1991.  Together, they raised 8 children in Port-au-Prince, Haiti. 

With her cheerful disposition and optimistic outlook on life, Antonine touched the lives of everyone she met.  She was a highly valued employee with a reputation for a positive attitude and quality work.  Her children were never far from her mind, and when leaving work she would often buy them each a unique candy or sweet so that they would feel special when she returned to them at the end of the day.  She was an excellent seamstress and sewed beautiful and well-made clothing not only for her children, but for those of friends.  She was generous to others in her community, often hosting friends and family members in her home when they needed additional support during life’s trials.  She loved to laugh and was fond of reminding us that “smiles prevent wrinkles.”   She enjoyed fashion and wore high-heel shoes well past the age that her children thought was safe.  She delighted in and often cared for her grandchildren.  She held her great-grandchildren in her arms.    

She told us not too long before her passing that she was preparing to again see Max, and she ultimately has.  We know he has waited patiently for her and we are comforted knowing that their souls have reunited.  Rest in peace, Antonine.  We miss you but will never forget you. 

Visitation and viewing will take place from 10:30 to 1:30PM on Saturday, April 13^th at Serenity Funeral Home and Cremation, North Lauderdale, FL.  Mass will follow at Our Lady Queen of Heaven Church.  The burial will take place at 3:00PM at Our Lady Queen of Heaven Catholic Cemetery.

Antonine Jerome Isidore, 99 ans, de Fort Lauderdale, est entrée dans le Royaume de Dieu le dimanche de Pâques, le 31 mars 2024. Elle est née en 1925 d'Antoine Jérôme et d'Elvira Maitre .

Antonine était une épouse, mère, grand-mère et arrière-grand-mère aimante et dévouée, et laisse dans le deuil ses enfants, Marie-Michelle, Frantz, Jean-Phillipe Max, Marie-Maud, Edwig, Nicole, Magalie et Ingrid; petits-enfants Soraya, Osamudia, Michelle, Marie-France, Ednick, Vanessa, Nathalie, Miriam, Max-Andre, Christopher, Manfred, Metu, Jennifer, Leticia, Rickley , Lexidor , Shade-Ann et Christian; et arrière-petits-enfants Zachary, Mickayel , Kisaye , Mayre , Kamal, Coralie et Catherine-Nicole. Sa belle-soeur Myrtha, les neveux et nieces Doudou, Martine, Farah. Elle est précédée dans la mort par son époux Max Sanon Isidore, son frère Marc Jérôme et son fils aîné Ernst Isidore.

Après avoir obtenu son diplôme d'école primaire, Antonine fréquente l'école Elie Dubois où elle apprend à coudre, à dactylographier et se forme comme assistante administrative. Après avoir obtenu son diplôme, elle a travaillé comme secrétaire au Département haïtien des services sociaux jusqu'à sa retraite. Peu de temps après avoir commencé à travailler, elle a rencontré et épousé Max Sanon Isidore, et les deux ont vécu un mariage aimant et stable pendant 42 ans jusqu'à sa mort en 1991. Ensemble, ils ont élevé 8 enfants à Port-au-Prince, en Haïti.

Avec son caractère joyeux et sa vision optimiste de la vie, Antonine a touché la vie de tous ceux qu’elle a rencontrés. Elle était une employée très appréciée, réputée pour son attitude positive et son travail de qualité. Ses enfants n'étaient jamais loin de son esprit et, lorsqu'elle quittait son travail , elle leur achetait souvent à chacun un bonbon ou une friandise unique afin qu'ils se sentent spéciaux lorsqu'elle reviendrait vers eux à la fin de la journée. Elle était une excellente couturière et cousait des vêtements beaux et bien confectionnés non seulement pour ses enfants, mais aussi pour ceux de ses amis. Elle était généreuse envers les autres membres de sa communauté, accueillant souvent chez elle des amis et des membres de sa famille lorsqu'ils avaient besoin d'un soutien supplémentaire pendant les épreuves de la vie. Elle adorait sourire et aimait nous rappeler que « les sourires préviennent les rides ». Elle aimait la mode et portait des chaussures à talons hauts bien au-delà de l'âge que ses enfants pensaient être sans danger.  Elle aimait et prenait souvent soin de ses petits-enfants.  Elle tenait dans ses bras ses arrière-petits-enfants.

Elle nous a dit peu de temps avant son décès qu'elle se préparait à revoir Max, et Dieu a exaucé ses prières. Nous savons qu'il l' a attendue patiemment et nous sommes réconfortés de savoir que leurs âmes se sont réunies. Repose en paix, Antonine. Tu nous manques mais nous ne t'oublierons jamais.

La depouille mortelle aura lieu de 10h30am à 13h30pm le samedi 13 avril à Serenity Funeral Home and Cremation, North Lauderdale, FL. La messe suivra à l’église Our Lady Queen of Heaven. L'inhumation aura lieu à 15h00 au cimetière Catholique Our Lady Queen of Heaven.
