Clara Rosa Álvarez was born on September 8, 1941, in Medellín, Colombia to Ramón Álvarez and Margarita Acosta. She was one of ten children and is survived by her eight siblings; her son, Manuel Vélez; her daughter, Michelle Sáenz; and eight cherished grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Manuel Vélez; her daughter, Katherine Vélez; and her brother, Alberto Álvarez.
Clara was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother who tirelessly cared for her family. She was a strong, caring and generous woman who loved our Lord Jesus Christ and followed His example of sacrificial love. After losing her daughter, Katherine, to cancer, she lovingly cared for her disabled grandson, Alejandro Duque, until her debilitating stroke.
Her love knew no bounds. For that reason, her children, grandchildren and extended family continue to cherish her and carry forward her legacy of love.
“This is my commandment, that you love one another, as I have loved you. Greater love than this no man hath, that a man lay down his life for his friends.”
