Claude J. Philius

Claude J. Philius, born on July 8, 1939, in Haiti, passed away peacefully on August 9, 2025. A devoted family man and respected member of his community, Claude leaves behind a legacy of love and dedication that will be cherished by all who knew him.

Claude is survived by his beloved wife, Marie Berthe, and their children: Nadine Maxwell, alongside her husband Curtis Maxwell Sr.; Kathleen Winston; Rudolph Philius; and Claudy Philius, partner of Yipeng Xiao. His familial bonds continued to grow with the addition of his grandchildren: Nicole, Curtis Jr., Vanessa, Kristina, Aston, Niko, and Aysha, along with his great-grandchildren, Madison, Megan, Vanessa, Jaivyn, Averie, Jovon, Jaqwan, and Jaquez. The warmth of his family brought joy to his life and comfort in his later years.

Claude's lasting connections also include his siblings, Denise Philius and Charlotte St. Laurent (nee Philius), who will remember him fondly. He also held a special relationship with his godbrother, Jean Gracia.

Claude is also survived and loved by the “Philius”,“Jeoffroy”,”Abel”,”Thebaud”, “Maignan”, “Brossard”, ”Gracia” and “Dorismond” family’s .

Visitation services for Claude J. Philius will take place on August 23, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 11:45 AM at Serenity Funeral Home & Cremation, located at 1450 S. State Road 7, North Lauderdale, FL, 33068. Following the visitation, a Mass will be held at Our Lady Queen of Heaven Catholic Church, starting at 12:00 PM, situated at 1400 S State Rd 7, North Lauderdale, FL, 33068. The interment will follow at Our Lady Queen of Heaven Catholic Cemetery at 1:00 PM, located at 1500 S State Rd 7, North Lauderdale, FL, 33068.

Claude J. Philius was a man of honor and integrity, and his memory will continue to inspire all who were fortunate enough to share in his life.
