On April 10, 1934, our strong, resilient, quick-witted, and beautiful Queen, Cynthia Boyd, was born at Port of Spain General Hospital in Trinidad and Tobago to Juliet and Francis Boyd.
Cynthia was a true show-stopper always stepping out dressed to impress, armed with a wit no one could conquer, sharp comebacks, and a contagious, scandalous laugh that filled every room. A fierce woman of God, she instilled unwavering faith in her children and grandchildren. While living in Trinidad and Tobago, she devoted many years of service to St. Vincent de Paul, opening her arms and heart to those scorned by society, particularly individuals living with HIV.
A devoted Catholic throughout her life, Cynthia was an active member of the Legion of Mary. She faithfully prayed the Divine Mercy devotion every day at 3:00 p.m. and did not accept unnecessary calls during that sacred time her commitment to prayer was unwavering.
Cynthia was an avid reader and devoted listener of the news. She drew wisdom from the books she read and the information she absorbed, generously passing that knowledge on to her children and grandchildren. Her advice often began with, “D man said this or that,” or “I read in a book that you shouldn’t do this and that.”
Mamie Cynthia’s strength was deeply rooted in her remarkable memory and boundless love for her family. She remembered the birthdays of all seven of her children and her many grandchildren, calling each of them at the break of dawn every year to sing “Happy Birthday,” always ending with, “I love you.” She cherished being involved in her family’s lives and would call asking, “When next I seeing you?” even after we had just left her home following a three-day visit.
She was our biggest supporter. For every interview, exam, or important milestone, her comforting and steadfast words were always the same: “You will get through. It is yours. Ask God for His guidance.”
“Spread love everywhere you go.
Let no one ever come to you without leaving happier.
Be a living expression of God’s kindness:
kindness in your face,
kindness in your eyes,
kindness in your smile.”
— Mother Teresa

Cynthia Boyd leaves to cherish her loving memory her seven devoted children: Terrance Kirth Boyd, Kathy Ann Sandy, Gratiana Avril Boyd, Mia Abigail Boyd, Melissa Boyd, Mukaila Minty Boyd, and Akida “Kida” Boyd.
Her loving grand children; Dia, Kirlan, Alana, Saphia, Satoya “Senica”, Knyle, Shannel “Little Bit”, Kern, Terryssia “Pinkin,” Kerron, Perry Justin “PJ,” Sebastian, Zaria, Zoe and Zanna. Her great grand children Devante, Jemari, Kamari, Genesis, Knvaun, Sophy, and Jackson.
She will also be lovingly remembered by extended family members, and dear friends, all of whom were deeply touched by her wisdom, faith, and unconditional love.
“Mame Cynthia, Granny and DeeDee” your legacy lives on through the generations you nurtured, prayed over, and guided with steadfast faith and grace.
