Edgar Blake

March 11, 1938 — March 22, 2024

Edgar “Boysie” Augustus Blake, age 86, passed away
peacefully on March 22, 2024, surrounded by his
loving family. He was born on March 11, 1938, to
Rupert and Zephaline Blake in Kingston, Jamaica.
Boysie attended Kingston College before becoming a
merchant marine to traverse the world's oceans,
navigating through storms and tranquil seas. His
time at sea shaped him into a resilient and
resourceful individual, instilling in him a deep
appreciation for the wonders of the world and the
bonds forged with his fellow crew members.
Later, Boysie transitioned into a career as a delivery
truck driver, where he continued to demonstrate his
unwavering work ethic and commitment to
excellence. Day in and day out, he traversed
highways and New York City streets, delivering
furniture, goods, and mail with precision and
reliability, earning the respect of colleagues and
customers alike.
Boysie was a devoted family man, having been
married twice. He is survived by his loving wife,
Edlin (née Lamey), and his children from his first
marriage, Cassann (Claude) Blake-Cadet and
Thurman Blake. Boysie is also survived by son, Earl
Blake, and stepson, Omar Bowers. He loved each of
his children dearly and did his best to provide for
them. His love knew no bounds, and his children
were his greatest source of pride and joy.

He is also survived by his grandchildren, Thurman
“TJ” Blake, Jr. Tyra Blake, Chloe Cadet, and Conrad
Cadet, who brought him immense joy and laughter.
Boysie is also survived by his siblings, including
Neville Blake, Dawn Blake, Michael Blake and
Donnette Brown, and is preceded in death by Sybil
Fay Muccing, who has now welcomed him with open
arms in Heaven.
Boysie was known for his love of music and
dominoes.
One of Boysie's most endearing qualities was his
infectious sense of humor. He had a knack for
bringing joy and laughter to every gathering.
Known for his generous spirit, Boysie was always
willing to lend a helping hand to those in need. His
acts of kindness touched the lives of many.
Boysie will be remembered for his adventurous
spirit, his strong work ethic, and his unwavering love
for his family. His legacy will continue to inspire
those whose lives he touched.
A memorial service to celebrate Boysie's life will be
held on April 8, 2024, at Our Lady Queen of Heaven
Church.
Though he may no longer be with us in body, Boysie
will live on in the hearts and memories of all who
