Margate

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Gerald (Jerry) Willis Culver, 81, formerly of Whitehouse, Ohio, Wichita, Kansas and Margate, Florida.

Jerry was born on October 22, 1943 to Donald and Ethel Culver. He passed away on Wednesday, May 7, 2025. He leaves behind his loving wife of 59 years, Susan (Sue) Culver, son, Jeff (Sandra) Culver, and sister, Joyce (Dennis) Miller.

Jerry retired from the trucking business after over 35 years where he served as a dispatcher, warehouse manager, and office manager. In addition, he worked part time in various funeral homes in the Toledo area.

Jerry was a people person. He loved to interact and chat with neighbors, coworkers and friends. He was always telling jokes and was known for his wit and famous “Jerryisms.”

In Ohio, Jerry served as Exhaulted Ruler of Maumee Elks 1850 even winning a trophy in the Elks’ state-wide ritual competition.

In Wichita, Kansas, Jerry was active in Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, where he served as an usher and office volunteer. He enjoyed interacting with the children, “Crumb Crunchers,” as they often came though the church office on their way to class.

He served as a docent in Wichita’s Cowtown, where he dressed in period costume, and shared information about the various buildings in the town.

Just a year ago, the family moved to Margate, Florida. We live on a beautiful canal. Jerry had become quite infirm, but he enjoyed watching the interactions of the water wildlife from his chair in the sunroom.

He was the consummate football fan and was happiest when talking about games with friends. He was a frequent viewer of television musical stage shows and had quite a repertoire of his favorites.

Jerry will be laid to rest in Our Lady of Mercy, Our Lady Queen of Heaven Catholic Cemetery Mausoleum 1500 South State Rd., North Lauderdale, 33068. Mass will be held at St. Vincent Church Chapel, 6350 NW 18th St., Margate, Florida, 33063 on Friday, May 16, 2025 at 11:00 A.M.

In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to St. Jude Children Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or Best Friends Animal Society, 5001 Angel Canyon Rd. Kanab, Utah 84741.
