Herminia Pagan

December 24, 1928 — November 14, 2020

Herminia Pagan (née Medina), 91, of Margate, passed away in the presence of her loving family
on November 14, 2020.

Born in Las Piedras, Puerto Rico as the daughter of a sugarcane farmer,
Herminia moved to Chicago, Illinois where she raised six children.

The cornerstones of her life were family, faith, and food. Her family and friends will deeply miss
the sound of her infectious laugh that caused everyone to laugh with her, and they will always
cherish the memory of her delicious cooking. Her doors were open to anyone, whether family,
friends, neighbors, or strangers, and everyone who came to her table left with full bellies and
fuller hearts. Her caring spirit touched everyone she met. Even in the face of the tragedies she
experienced in her life, she was always cheerful and her faith in the goodness of God was
steadfast and unwavering. She will also be remembered for her lifelong dedication to her family
as a devoted mother and a doting grandmother and great-grandmother.

Herminia was predeceased by her parents, Pio and Juanita Medina; her nine brothers and
sisters; two sons, Hector and Ramon Jr.; and her husband of over 45 years, Julio Pagan. She is
survived by her children Lucy, Daisy, Nelson, and Annette; her sons-in-law and daughters-in-law
Hugo, Rafael, Carmen, John, and Patricia; twelve grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
