He accepted the call to the Gospel Ministry in July of 1953 and was licensed to preach in August of the same year by First Baptist Church of Omaha, Texas. He was ordained to the ministry by First Baptist Church of Plano, TX in 1955. Dr. Click was a graduate of Baylor University, Waco, TX in 1954; Southwestern Theological Seminary, Fort Worth, TX in 1958; and MidwesternBaptist Theological Seminary, Kansas City, MO where he received his doctorate in 1980. Click served as Minister of Music and Youth at First Baptist Church in Plano, TX (1953-56); pastor of Rhea’s Mill Baptist Church in McKinney, TX (1956-58); pastor of First Baptist Church in Junction, TX (1958-60); pastor of Bellview Baptist Church in Midland, TX (1960-63); pastor of Richmond Plaza Baptist Church in Bellaire, TX (1963-71); and pastor of Immanuel Baptist Church in Wichita, KS for 28 years. (1971- 99). During his pastorate at Immanuel, Dr. Click hosted an evangelistic Television talk show called “Come Alive” which aired in the late 70’s/early 80’s on Channel 12 KTVH. Upon Dr. Click’s retirement in 1999 from Immanuel, he began serving on staff at First Baptist Church Hilton Head as a Bible teacher and preacher under the leadership of Senior Pastor John Keller.

During his ministry, Dr. Click was quite active in denominational service. He served as president of the Kansas-Nebraska Convention and was on the Board of Trustees of Houston Baptist University. In addition, he served as a member of the Home Mission Board, the International Mission Board, and the Executive Committee of the Southern Baptist Convention.

Dr. Click was a faithful preacher of the Gospel and in addition to preaching many revivals in the United States, his preaching activities took him to Central and South America where he held revivals in Venezuela, Brazil, and Guatemala. He also led revivals in Japan and North Ireland. His nonpreaching ministry included a fact-finding mission, together with group of fellow Christians, on the status of religious freedom in the Soviet Union during the Cold War. In 1968 as part of a humanitarian service project under the auspices of the White House during the Johnson Administration, Dr. Click travelled to Vietnam to write and photograph an in-depth journalistic piece entitled “Vietnam Diary” published by the Houston Chronicle as a supplement.

Dr. Click’s multiple travels to the Amazon is where he received inspiration to write his published novel, “The Last Tribe”. Click crafted an intriguing story weaving together history, suspense, and biblical imagery. The story concludes with a thought-provoking finale.

The most important message Dr. Click wanted the world to hear is found in I Thessalonians 4:13-18.

“ But I would not have you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning them which are asleep, that ye sorrow not, even as others which have no hope. For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him. For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep.

For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so, shall we ever be with the Lord. Wherefore comfort one another with these words.”

Eternal life is a gift from God for those who repent from their sin, and accept Jesus as Savior, the one who took our places on the cross where He suffered, shed His blood and died for mankind. He rose again and is our living Savior!

For those who believe, repent and accept this wonderful gift from God, death is conquered. Eternal life awaits! Those who repent and believe upon Jesus Christ are saved from an eternity in hell. Dr Click spent his life proclaiming this message! He is now enjoying his life eternal with God! His greatest desire would be that those who read his obituary will come to know Jesus as Savior!

A celebration of life & graveside service will be held at the historical Black Creek Methodist Church & Cemetery, Middleburg, FL. Date and time to be determined.
