Kathleen’s petite 5’ 1” frame was simply not big enough to contain all her love and compassion. So she gave her love and compassion away - to family, friends, and even those she met briefly.
Kath delighted as much in listening to others talk about what mattered most to them as she did in sharing about her own joys in life, especially her pride in her son.
Those she served over her years in Bethpage and Long Beach, New York, as a flight attendant, as an organizer for military health programs, and as an advocate for those needing help with their insurance at Catholic Health Services, benefited immeasurably from her caring during their difficult times.
The passengers on the two planes that crashed when Kath was a flight attendant on them would have felt reassured and comforted by her professionalism, her strength and her love as she guided them to safety.
After moving to Florida several years ago, Kath used her knowledge and experience finding loving, 24-hour care for her own Mom to then help other seniors and their families.
In her Mom, and in her relationship with her Mom, Kath had the perfect guide for how to raise her own son to be compassionate, loving and generous in his relationships and in his profession as a nurse.
She spoke often of her joy in her family. Her Mom and Dad, her son Brian, the daughter of her heart, Carol, her brother and sister-in-law Gerry and Pat, her uncles and aunts, especially her Uncle Georgie, her former husband Chris – and, of course, her favorite canine friends of all time, Snowball, Tiffany and Katie - all contributed to her happiness more than they likely even realized. That her family returned her loving care so fully filled her with gratitude.
Kath cherished her many friends – longtime friends, friends in her Garden Aire Village community, in her Franciscan Parish community, and in her professional community. She made each feel loved and cared for by her many acts of kindness in helping them, and during shared time with them laughing, talking and simply celebrating life together.
Our Mom, sister, friend will live joyfully and eternally in our hearts.
Kathleen Anne Asche is survived by her loving family – her son Brian, the daughter of her heart Carol, her brother and sister-in-law, Gerry and Pat, her former husband Chris, and all those she loved as family in her heart.
Expressions of love can be sent to Brian Asche and Carol Casia, 40 Elizabeth Street, Apt. 203, Farmingdale, NY 11735.
