Obediah O’Reilly Baker was welcomed into this world on September 27, 1950, in Westmoreland, Jamaica West Indies. He was a graduate of Mico College and Nova University.  

In Jamaica, Obediah worked as an Overseer at Frome, Shrewsbery, Appleton, Money Musk Sugar and Bernard Lodge Estates, taught at Spring Gardens All Age and Denham Town High Schools, worked at Life of Jamaica Ltd (now Sagicor Life) and was Area Sales Manager at Guiness Jamaica Ltd and Desnoes & Geddes (D&G) Ltd and then a Businessman.

Obediah migrated to Brooklyn, New York and worked at Home Depot and then Kings County Hospital from where he retired and subsequently moved to Florida.

Obediah was married to Merton Rowe and then Heung Man Lau. He was predeceased by his parents Adeline and James, his siblings Charles, Imogene, Uriah, Winston and Trevor.

Obediah’s mourners are his wife Heung Man; his children Janice, Gail, Tracyann, Marla, Shayne and Jordan; his grandchildren Alistair, Parker, Peyton and Jade; his siblings Hilda, Hubert, Milton, Vincent, Albert and Octavious; a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, other relatives and friends.
