Regina Lettieri affectionately known as Gina, passed away on May 15, 2025, in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, at the age of 76. Born on December 11, 1948, in Brooklyn, New York, Gina grew up living a life that was vibrant, generous, and filled with love. A graduate of Newdorp High School, Gina started her family in Staten Island. She moved her family in 1977 to Tamarac, FL, where she was a devoted mother to her children, Sandra Lettieri (husband Bobby Hynes) and Joseph Lettieri. Gina was cherished by her in-laws, cousins, aunts, uncles, and her numerous granddogs. Gina was blessed to have many loving neighbors and countless friends who adored her spirit and warmth.
Gina had a lengthy real estate career with over 30 years with Tropical Springs Realty in South Florida, helping families find their perfect homes. Her home, which she lived in for over 40 years, was a gathering place for friends and family alike. It was open to anyone and everyone, welcoming not just people but also a variety of pets, including a monkey and a skunk, reflecting her boundless love for animals and her generous heart. Gina was a remarkable hostess, known for showing off her English and Italian roots with her fantastic culinary skills, and for hosting the most joyous holidays and fabulous parties at her home.
Gina's creative soul found expression in her love for writing, and her Catholic faith played an integral role in her life. She found particular inspiration in St. Francis, relating deeply to his compassion for animals and helping others. Her generous nature extended beyond her immediate circle; she often made herself available to help others, whether they were friends or complete strangers. Her kindness and willingness to embrace those around her were traits that endeared her to many, and her neighbors were especially dear to her, often cited as the reason she never wanted to move from her beloved home.
Among her proudest accomplishments was her response to Hurricane Andrew. During this challenging time, Gina utilized her family's trucking business and her extensive real estate connections to create a grassroots fundraiser to support those impacted by the storm. Her determination and compassionate spirit shone brightly as she rallied her community to come together and lend support.
Gina is preceded in death by her parents, Augustine "Augie" Coiro and Eugenie "Judy" Coiro, and her brother, John V. Coiro.
