Roger Gehy

August 23, 1930 — September 8, 2024

Roger Gehy left this life on September 8th, 2024 while at his home in Florida at the age of 94.

Roger was born in Marigot, Haiti in 1930. He welcomed his first child into the world in the mid 50’s. Later in the 50’s, in Jacmel, Haiti, he met and married his wife of 58 years, Emma. They had their first child in the late 60’s.

Around the same time, they also made the decision to leave their rooted life in Haiti and start a new life in The United States. In hope of making a better life and having a few family members already living there, the couple decided to settle in Queens, New York City. Later, in the 70’s, the couple welcomed their last two children into the world. While creating a home, Roger climbed the ranks at his job & became a manager.

In his earlier years, his pastimes were playing soccer, riding motorcycles, and dancing. At the family home in Queens, he threw quite a few parties. His mid-life hobby was multi-media arts. He had a love of music and homestyle-videography & photography. Roger & Emma retired in the 90’s.

As a retiree, he enjoyed playing solitaire on his computer, watching soccer, listening to music, playing scratch off’s and keeping in touch with loved ones through Skype. In the latter part of his life, his diabetes became more progressive. For this reason, his family made the decision to relocate him to Florida, so he could have a better quality of life.

Roger is survived by his wife Emma, children (Margaret, Hilda, James), grandchildren (Karine, Kevin, Kortnie, Selena), great-grandchildren (Jereme, Damini, Joshua, Olivia, Michael), and sister Sonia Auguste (Menard). He is preceded in death by his daughter Johanne Gehy, parents (Janine Gehy and Jean Menard), and his sister Mona Lubin (Menard).

Roger was a hard working and loving father & husband. He was a protector, provider, and someone who often put the needs of others before his own.

Forever in our hearts, he will be missed by our entire family and all the friends he made along the way.
